Eduard Manet painted the painting entitled "The Suicide". The year of origin is unknown. Also, the motivation to paint such a picture is unclear. There were two real suicides around the painter, but both had happened many years earlier. Once Manet found a young assistant hanged in the studio. This was certainly a traumatic experience for Manet, especially since the two had previously argued. However, the picture shows a man who shot himself and did not hang. Once again a colleague Manets had shot himself. However, the temporal classification of the picture does not fit at the time of the suicide. Also unusual is the fact that he donated the picture of the dead of a charity auction in favor of a seriously ill friend who died shortly afterwards. The story behind the picture will probably remain a mystery for a long time to come.
