William Adolphe Bouguereau's realist painting depicts the Virgin and angels. In her arms Mary carries the naked baby Jesus, who is supposed to spread her arms over the people. While the Virgin is clothed in a dark robe and her head is covered, the angels appear in white dresses.
Above the head of the Mother of God luminous stars are arranged in a circle. Behind her is an elaborate throne with decorative ornaments, which is supposed to symbolize the royal presentation. The angels around the Virgin depicted in female form have long curly and fine-haired hair. They lovingly turn their eyes to the Virgin and Child. Two of the angels sit on a cloud barefoot before them, holding golden vessels from which incense emanates for the homage of the new life. The expressive image in square format is made in oil on canvas. On the whole, it is very cheerful and open, not least because of the bright colors and the yellow background. The painting exudes a protective aura and looks graceful and cheerful to the viewer. It can be ordered as an art print on various media such as canvas, as a fine art photo or on a watercolor board. It can also be chosen with a narrow, wide or no frame. censer · incense · virgin mary · madonna · halo · stars · angel · la vierge aux anges · mother · child · infant · wings · children · jesus christ
