An enchanted world of light deep in the heart of a forest.
One day in the Polish town of Jelenia Gora, I came across a similar picture, which was displayed in impressive size as a photograph in the stairwell of the local thermal baths. The motif seemed ordinary at first: a body of water surrounded by forest.
However, the aura of this photograph captivated me in an inexplicable way. Its emotional impact prompted me to spontaneously capture the mood I felt and create the small-format oil painting on wood panel shown here. The painting is characterized by rays of light coming down from above and gathering on the water in a clearing in the forest. This is probably a hidden forest lake with no accessible shore, perhaps a well-kept secret for nature lovers or locals. However, the painting is freely inspired and shows this very forest lake instead of a stream, albeit referenced differently from the photograph in the Jelenia Gora thermal baths.
