The picture Fish Magic shows, among other elements, six differently designed fish in different colors, which develop a luminosity on a black-dark background. Four fish swim to the center of the picture, two to the edge. The peculiar dynamic, which expresses no movement in time but in the depth of space, is achieved through the diversely created dark background. Deep black alternates with dull grey-green, through which orange shines. The upper left corner of the picture is kept orange, and other orange areas of colour appear at various points in the picture, which, depending on their shape, are reminiscent of a sun or a gap, an opening to another room. In addition to orange, two blue spots, signs of hope, shine out from the black background. A purple fish swims through the two spots towards the centre of the picture, followed by a small, discreet brown-gold fish. Purple is both the color of power and humility. Three circles in red, orange and pink are spread across the picture. They resemble suns and planets respectively. Plants and flowers with evergreen branches, symbols of life, are further design elements. Two double cones, from one of which the red sun rises, and in the other of which some flowers stand, as in a vase, can be seen in the lower half of the picture. At the bottom of the picture is a drawing of a figure with the face of both a man and a woman. In the lower left corner, another figure is painted on, with her pointed hat, reminiscent of a Pierrot, and thus of fantasy and transformation. She has a heart-shaped mouth that reveals a friendly smile. The line used to draw the nose on the face runs in an s-shape between the eyes, which consist of two small circles. The Chinese yin-yang symbol of transformation can be seen in this. The centre of the painting, towards which four of the six fishes are reaching, is occupied by a shadowy church with its clearly visible church clock striking nine o'clock. While the number six stands for magic, among other things, but also for man and harmony, the number nine also symbolizes completion and bliss.
