In the impressive depths of Woolwich, London, the year 1971 added a new facet to art. A name that would later enter the annals of art history: Noel Paine. His talent was not to be confined to the confines of London, but would reach across Lazio, Italy to Vienna, Austria, where he currently resides. The London breeding ground blossomed early, allowing Paine to encounter the hallowed halls of Colfe's School, where he received his first artistic education.
His path led him on to Cardiff Metropolitan University, where he studied art and aesthetics in depth, and to the College of Charleston in South Carolina. Under the aegis of Professor Michael Tyzack and David Novros, he honed his sense of the aesthetic. Canterbury Christ Church University in Kent sealed his academic career with an MA in Fine Arts in 1998. In the course of this journey, he spent a year in a studio in the vibrant New York neighborhood before returning to London in 1996 to work at the Barbican Arts Trust Studio. After a residency at Acme Studios' "Fire Station," he found his way to a studio at Trinity Buoy Wharf.
His creative horizons eventually expanded to the Italian Campagna, Rome and the surrounding region. Today, his artistic heart and studio can be found in Anticoli Corrado in Lazio and Vienna, where he moved in 2013. Paine's unmistakable talent is revealed in his oeuvre as a landscape painter. A fine balance between working outdoors and creative introspection in the studio distinguishes him. Large-scale oil-on-canvas works, born out of previous drawings, make up his artful repertoire. Yet the artwork itself remains conceptually abstract. "The Red Gate," a 2012 work held in a private collection, is a perfect example. Paine's work is not about creating a mere representation of a tree, but exploring its color, line, shape and light.
But he is also no stranger to the art of lecturing. With regular lectures at both the National Gallery and the Art Academy in London, Paine continues his tireless commitment to the arts. Every facet of his life and work, every landscape captured, every stroke on canvas manifests in our high quality art prints to capture and preserve the essence of Noel Paine's artistic genius. With us you get not just an art print, but a journey into the heart of a great artist.
