Giuseppe Recco (* 1634 in Naples; † 29 May 1695 in Alicante) was a Neapolitan still life painter.rnrnGiuseppe Recco, the son of Giacomo Recco, was already a celebrated artist during his lifetime.rnrnDuring a trip to Lombardy, he studied the work of Evaristo Baschenis and, like his father, became a painter of naturalistic floral still lifes. After his return to Naples, however, he switched to fish, game and kitchen scenes, influenced by Caravaggio and his circle.rnrnHis works are characterised by clear compositions based on a balance of horizontal and vertical lines, which are considered a typical Neapolitan style. From around 1670, his compositions show a more baroque, decorative style.
